Graphics
are an important component in communication data and the use of text
and graphics helps the transmission of the message to the intended
audience (Dwyer, 2013, p396). Personally I find plain text mundane so
if a presenter adds visual elements, it helps me understand what they
are trying to say. And being a visual person, the use of charts,
photos, graphs and videos help me learn. As Angell states: “you can
use visual images to stimulate audience interest, increase
understanding and clarity, summarise or condense and strengthen
persuasive messages” (Angell, 2004, Ch 17).
