Com12: Business Communications. Week 10: Visual Design in Business Writing

Graphics are an important component in communication data and the use of text and graphics helps the transmission of the message to the intended audience (Dwyer, 2013, p396). Personally I find plain text mundane so if a presenter adds visual elements, it helps me understand what they are trying to say. And being a visual person, the use of charts, photos, graphs and videos help me learn. As Angell states: “you can use visual images to stimulate audience interest, increase understanding and clarity, summarise or condense and strengthen persuasive messages” (Angell, 2004, Ch 17).
